FINAL ASSIGNEMENT
A good, effective, and entertaining instructional design is certainly a key element in good educational games. Educational games are very motivating and they cannaturally embody important learning design principles like exploration, immersion,feedback, increasingly difficult challenges to master. However, there are mixed results on the actual pedagogical effectiveness of educational games. These results are consistent with the mixed results on the effectiveness of exploratory learning environments, not surprisingly since most educational games are exploratory learning environments with a stronger focus of entertainment.
There are some criterias for designing and applaying a game to the students have difficulties to understand a subject.
One of the criterias is to know their duties and responsibilities and obey them is a very important key element because adult has certain rights. For example, some students can have fair in the game.
The players can accept their shortcomings and try to develop their talents. In the game the students can find themselves and we have to supply opportunities for that. One should provide proof of their ability to handle crisis and marginal situations.
We should demonstrate a consistency of value preferences, choice and direction. The players should know what they want to achieve and set their own standards for what is “good enough”.
Now I want to say something about a game proceeding ( işlem ) that was played in our class:
’It is about understanding to understand the finding ineffective component of a proceedind problem. There were 25 person in that game and they made a square with 16 person. The others were to be arranged in an order in that square. The students that were on edges of square wore hats. The names of some animals were given to all students .game designers gave the numbers to the students on edges and the they took out the animals voice in their paper. The person who is on the intersection points of these two students took out the animal voice in his hand and who is result of problem.’
In that game the students can learn the way of finding the result. There is no risk of fair. Thet demonstrated the game and every player understood the rules and they achieved and set their own standards for what is “good enough”. In these conditions the game was good. But there are some ineffective points in the game.
Some of them are that students did not use their abilities and hands. The designers could not provide proof of their ability to handle crisis and marginal situations. Taking out the animals’ voice is not an ability. And a big deficiency in the game there was no excitement.
But in all these conditions the game was good…
